Equipment Rentals

SCAT equipment use is FREE to all members for all non-commercial projects to be aired on SCAT Channel 3. (See membership info for details).

SCAT does provide a low-cost alternative to those interested in renting video equipment and/or facility time to use on projects not intended for cablecast on SCAT Channel 3. An individual or group may rent equipment or facility time at SCAT under the following conditions:

The Individual or group must be a member of SCAT. If the individual or group is not an existing member, they must sign up as a Contributing Member, with a yearly fee of $40.00 for an individual and $100 for an organization.
SCAT Equipment Members, Organizational Members, and Somerville non-profit organizations are entitled to reduced rental rates.
Upon reserving equipment and/or facility time, the individual or group must leave a 20% deposit. If a cancellation occurs up to 72 hours before the scheduled reservation, the deposit is refunded in full. If the individual or group cancels after that time, or does not show up at all, the deposit is forfeited. The deposit is applied toward the final total of the rental, which is due immediately upon completion of the rental.

TELEVISION STUDIO AND CONTROL ROOM:		Member/Outside Rates
Television Studio, 26’ X 33’, height: 11.5’: 3 Sony DXC-327 cameras, production monitor, loaded light grid, mics, blue, black, grey, and chromakey background curtains, off-white, textured acoustic panels on curved wall.	Studio with lights only	$30/ $50 hour
Control Room: Master to miniDV(2) or DV (2), SVHS (2), DVD (with the capability to save to hard drive and record mulitple copies), firewire to computer hard drive. -Digital switcher, Compix graphics, audio board -Roll-ins from SVHS, DVD, miniDV, DV, Web -Live call-in/cablecast to Somerville	Studio and Control Room	$75/ $125 hour
VIDEO EDITING:
Control Room editing: analog from/to SVHS, miniDV, DV. Compix Graphics. Digital editing with iMovie, Final Cut Express, Soundtrack, LiveType, Motion, GarageBand		$20 / $30 hour $45 / $60 hour
DUBBING RACK:
From: SVHS/VHS, miniDV, DV To: SVHS/VHS, miniDV, DV, DVD		$10 / $20 hour
FIELD PRODUCTION PACKAGES:
Digital camcorder: Sony VX2100 or Sony FX7, tripod, AC power, 2 batteries, headphones, XLR adapter	half day(4 hrs) full day	$60 / $75 $100 / $150

Audio equipment: Various microphones, cables, adapters	half day full day	$10 / $15 $20 / $30
